Theater dates and DVD dates

A film's theater opening and a disc's street date are separate records. The list below groups discs by their 2025 street dates. For the cinema opening beside the disc date, use 2025 movie release dates.

Keep the film year, physical format and disc date in separate fields. A film released in one calendar year can have a physical edition in another. A collection can also contain films from several years under one package date.

Match the physical edition

Search by the full film title and the format you want. Then record the publisher, barcode, territory and edition name from the rear cover or publisher's catalog. Those details help distinguish a DVD from a Blu-ray or UHD package with similar artwork.

Check languages, region and condition

For an import, compare the disc's region marking with your exact player manual. Read the language table for audio, subtitles and captions separately. The language of a seller's page does not establish the languages on the disc.

For a used copy, request the disc labels and rear-cover details. Count the discs and inspect the tray. A complete insert helps identify the edition, but the insert's condition does not establish the condition of the playing surface.

Availability and edition announcements

A release date records when an edition was scheduled to ship. It does not establish a retailer's current stock. Check availability for the exact copy you want rather than transferring a stock label between editions with the same film title.
