Which Interstellar steelbook is which
Interstellar: 2015 Target Blu-ray steelbook, US
The 2015 US Target steelbook holds Blu-ray and DVD. Blu-ray.com records UPC 032429218230. Target now says the item is unavailable.
Cooper stands in shallow water with the spacecraft behind him. Blu-ray.com lists the set as Blu-ray + DVD. The same case art later returned on US 4K releases.
Best Buy’s 2020 and Walmart’s 2024 editions use similar water-planet art. A photo of the closed case cannot tell you which discs are inside. Ask for the wrapper and disc photos.
Interstellar: 2020 Best Buy 4K steelbook, US
The 2020 US Best Buy release holds 4K and Blu-ray. Blu-ray.com gives UPC 032429348166 and an October 6, 2020 release date.
Cooper stands on the water planet again. The top retail band says 4K Ultra HD. Match that band and UPC 032429348166 to the 2020 US package.
Walmart's 2024 4K reissue has its own wrapper and UPC.
Interstellar: 2024 Walmart 4K steelbook, US
The 2024 US Walmart exclusive holds 4K and Blu-ray. Blu-ray.com gives UPC 191329268452 and a December 10, 2024 release date.
The water-planet cover returns. A Walmart Limited Edition Steelbook band runs across the top. That wrapper and the new barcode identify the December 2024 set.
Best Buy's 2020 4K release has similar art but a different UPC.
Interstellar: 2017 Zavvi Blu-ray steelbook and 2020 reprint, UK
Zavvi’s 2017 UK two-disc Blu-ray was limited to 1000 copies. Zavvi's pages for the original and the 2020 reprint both show sold out.
The black case has INTERSTELLAR running vertically. Blu-ray.com gives the first barcode as 5051892209854. The reprint uses 5051892229555.
The two runs share one design, so they sit in one section. Neither is a 4K set. HMV’s later UK 4K steelbook has the water-planet cover instead.
Interstellar: 2023 HMV 4K steelbook, UK
The 2023 UK HMV exclusive holds 4K and Blu-ray. Blu-ray.com dates it to September 11, 2023. Blu-ray.com catalog entry 341282 is the steelbook, not the plain-case release.
The water-planet cover looks like the US cases. The UK wrapper has BBFC age ratings and the 4K band.
Zavvi’s black case with the vertical title holds Blu-ray discs. It is a different release.
Interstellar: 2018 Amazon Blu-ray steelbook, Germany
The 2018 German Amazon-exclusive Blu-ray uses barcode 5051890313850. Blu-ray.com dates it to April. The entry lists two Blu-ray discs in a steelbook.
A silver ring-shaped spacecraft dominates the dark blue cover. This Endurance artwork differs from the US and HMV water-planet cases. It also differs from Zavvi’s black, vertical-title design.
A German steelbook is not always a 4K edition. This Amazon release holds Blu-ray discs. Match the barcode before buying an import.
Interstellar: 2021 Manta Lab ME34 4K steelbook
Manta Lab’s 2021 ME34 holds three discs: 4K and Blu-ray. Collectong lists the numbered full-slip set as sold out.
The case has a gloss finish and debossed title. Look for Manta’s exclusive sticker and the numbered slip sticker. A booklet comes with postcards and character cards in the original full-slip set.
Full slip, lenticular, double lenticular and one-click are ME34 variants, as listed in Collectong’s Interstellar catalog. They count as one release here. A loose retail case lacks that slip set.

Frequently asked questions
Which Interstellar steelbooks are not 4K?
The 2015 Target, 2017/2020 Zavvi and 2018 German Amazon packages are Blu-ray releases. Target also includes a DVD; none of those original packages includes a 4K disc.
Is a Manta Lab slip a separate release?
Collectong’s catalog lists the slip packages under the same ME34 release number. Compare the chosen package with the full-slip contents, since a slip listing does not by itself establish different discs.
How many discs are in the three US Interstellar packages?
Blu-ray.com lists Target’s 2015 set with two Blu-rays and one DVD. The 2020 Best Buy set has two discs, while the 2024 Walmart set has three.
Will the German Interstellar Blu-rays play in a Region A player?
Blu-ray.com records the 2018 German set as Region B, with A and C untested. That entry does not confirm playback in a Region A player.
